Bookstores!

It’s been almost a year since I’ve stepped inside an American bookstore. So we went to the mall the other day, I bolted (this is when jogging comes in handy) over there.

After I passed the mountain of Twilight books (can I just say WOW!?), I found the teen section.
Huge! It was probably twice the size as the previous year. I was surprised and intrigued. I heard bookstores were expanding their YA departments, but it was great to see it in person.

I bought a stack of books of course and I’m now happily reading. And speaking of reading, any good books you’d recommend I pick up while I’m here in the States?

Oh, I loved Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book and Coraline.

But I also really like the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse novels.

And, I really liked the entire Twilight series.

And. . . I could go on all night.

It's funny how "new" things seem after being away for so long. I'm going to CA for the first time in 3 years next month, so I'm looking forward to that same experience.

As for books -- mine's a good one. LOL! But it might not be what you're looking for. Heehee!

It's interesting to hear an overseas perspective on the things we take for granted.

I've been on a Neal Shusterman kick lately. Anything by Neal is great.

Graceling by Kristen Cashore

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks by Emily Lockhart.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Adoration of Jenna Fox by Mary Pearson

Those have been my favorite reads so far this year.

Have fun book shopping!

I linked here from ... can't remember which blog. I'm running blogs right now that concentrate on writing, which I am trying to do more of.

A good book? I read mostly history and theology. I'm reading several right now. One I just picked up - Surprised by Hope, by N.T. Wright, a British theologian. It is a book about heaven.

I am starting to look at historical novels and just picked up "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. It is a set in the 1850s and is based on a story from the Bible.

If you get a chance, please stop by Family Fountain.
