If You Had a Superpower, What Would It Be?

On the YA Rebels today, I talk about SUPERPOWERS. Of course this was a hard question because we were only allowed to choose one! So I broke down some of the superhero categories and looked at my favorite YA books with heroines/hereos with superpowers to help me out.

One of the parts about writing fantasy is that I can give my heroines or heroes cool powers. I think that's why it's so hard for me not to write fantasy. I hate being confined to the real world. If only we all could do the same things as our characters, right? Although, I'm not very nice to my characters and bad things happen to them. Very bad things.

So.... maybe not.

Also, I wrote a post over at the MiGs talking about how to write characters with superpowers. Check it out!

How about you? What would your superpower be?

All your talk of superpowers makes me want to write another novel! Thanks for the great summary and examples.

I'm transported to my six-year-old self and just want to twitch my nose. Telekinesis would be my thing. The very thought of bopping someone over the head when they need it from this shorty makes my heart go pitter-patter. Okay, so I'm horribly juvenile.

Christina, I sent you an email and I hope you got it. The last one bounced back. Maybe we can PM via the blueboards for the address.

Ahhhh. Superpowers. Selfishly I'd like to be able to eat any and all sweets and never gain weight (or have to eat healthy food at all). On a less selfish note, I'd whisk in on a flying tree branch and rescue kids in dire situations.

You are so darn cute, Christy!!!

I would want to teleport. (only if I could take my family with me) I've been on a lot of long car rides lately! :)

Oh those are all great ideas. Maybe I'd want my superpower to just rotate on a daily basis. Like Monday would be eat whatever you want day, Tuesday would be teleportor day...

I'd like to be able to wish unpleasant tasks "done"!

I don't read much fantasy, but hearing you talk about all of these books made me want to add a few of them to my list. Thanks!

Marcia- Oh that's a great one.

Ruth- I'm so glad you liked those books. They are a lot of fun.

I kind of like the time-travel power too, my nemesis would be liver. Another one I'd like is being a healer.

Great post.

I want to have the power of telekinesis.
