Recently our family went into the countryside (about an hour and a half bus ride) to visit the traditional Korean pottery city, Icheon. If you've read Single Shard by Linda Sue Park, you know what I'm taking about.
There's a festival held there once a year in the spring but since it's fall, we just went to the part of town that had all the Korean pots for sale. There were about forty shops in all that sold all types of pottery from the traditional celadon to a more modern rustic look.
The boys also made their own pots. Here's a video of Caleb shaping his clay:

I LOVE the one with the cherry blossom (?) tree on it. That's gorgeous! I'm having pottery envy now.
Wow, what an amazing and fun place to visit! How cool that Caleb and Luke got to participate, too! I don't know if I can choose a favorite among the pieces you bought; I like the history (and color) of the traditional style, and I also like the tree pattern on the modern single piece. I get compliments all the time on the platter and other pieces you sent me a long time ago; I'm thinking they're more of the modern style.
Oh, WOW. Those pots looks so beautiful! And so much fun for the kids! :)

Beautiful. I really, really, really like the one with the lid, the third phote.
I liked the traditional one with the tree on it the best. If my daughter and I make to Korea next year, will you take us to the pottery place? (My dojang is talking about *maybe* organizing a school trip!)

I went to a pottery town in Japan and made some hideous pottery of my own.
